DIY! Architecture for Dogs

It’s a dog’s life. But good news for pampered pooches – being a dog just got a whole lot more interesting thanks to Architecture for Dogs (worth a visit for the film alone) a new project founded by creative director of Muji, Kenya Hara.

Developed and designed in collaboration with some of the world’s leading designers, Architecture for Dogs aims to bring joy to pets and their owners with 13 structures designed to stimulate or address issues relating to specific breeds. For example Atelier Bow-Wow’s design for dachshunds tackles the problem this pedigree has with being, um, vertically challenged and having very short legs; the ramp structures are designed to be alternatives to stairs which can be damaging to long dachshund backs.

Blueprints for each structure are available to download with instructions, so that dog owners can build their own pet havens and share their handy work online by posting their creations (with their new inhabitants of course) on the Architecture for Dogs community site. Man’s best friend deserves a home as beautiful as yours after all.
