It is always a problem for me in reading building plans where ramps are appeared in drawings with these kind of drawing as shown in Figure 1. The situation will be even worse if there are no arrows showing the upward or downward direction and the directional discription is simply printed on the centre of the ramp on plan. The only way to trace back the actual direction of the ramp is by referring to the level indications (i.e. S.F.L or F.F.L) on plan but these kind of levels are usually not provided exactly for the top and bottom landings of the ramp.

Figure 2 provides a very clear 3-D diagram showing what exactly the meaning of the triangular marking is on building plan.
